Where is the University of Queensland’s St Lucia Campus in relation to the CBD and the Airport?
The University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus is located about 7–8 km southwest of Brisbane’s CBD, roughly a 15-minute drive or 20–25 minutes by bus or ferry. It’s approximately 20–22 km from Brisbane Airport, taking around 25–30 minutes by car or about an hour via public transport.

Where are the best areas to stay in terms of accessibility to the conference and proximity to the city centre?
The conference will be held at The University of Queensland, at the St. Lucia campus. St. Lucia and surrounding areas including Toowong and Taringa have the best access to campus. Locations closer to the inner-city that still have great public transport options to UQ include Auchenflower, West End, South Brisbane and Highgate Hill.
How do I get to my accommodation from Brisbane Airport?
Brisbane International Airport is a 20-30 min drive from the Brisbane City centre. To get to the city, you can catch a taxi from the pick-up zone just past Arrivals. In light traffic, this will cost between $55-65 AUD. The Airtrain can also be used to travel from airport to any of the train stations within the city network.
What is the best way to get around Brisbane? How do I get to The University of Queensland (UQ) from my accommodation?
The easiest and cheapest way of getting around Brisbane is to use the public transport system. To access the public transport system, you can use a go card or credit card. All public transport in Brisbane City (including trains, buses and ferries) is a set price of only 50c. Please note that cash is not accepted and 50c fares do not apply to the Airtrain. Go cards can be used on buses, trains, ferries and the Airtrain, which connects the airport to the city. To plan your route, you can use Google Maps or the Translink Journey Planner. Common public transport routes heading towards UQ from the city include the 412 and M2 buses. For more information about getting to UQ, click here.
